New event in Seaside CEO series features founder of Passenger
A new event in the Seaside CEO series is now open for bookings with guest entrepreneur, Richard Sutcliffe, founder of one of the UK’s fastest growing apparel brands, Passenger, that started with a small production run of beanies and t-shirts and now has an annual revenue of more than £100 million.
How a mission to ‘Inspire Meaningful Escapism’ led to a decade of growth including £15m investment.
Passenger was founded in 2012 by Richard Sutcliffe and his wife, Alex. Inspired by travel and adventure, and on a mission to ‘Inspire Meaningful Escapism’, the company started with a small production run of beanies and t-shirts and has become one of the UK’s fastest growing apparel brands, with an annual turnover now exceeding £100m.
The company sells direct to consumers via its own website and is working with large top tier retailers across Germany and France as well as the UK to support an omnichannel strategy. In 2023 the company secured a £15 million investment to boost global expansion and the former CEO of Gymshark joined the business as Chair, adding to a growing and experienced operations team.
Join this event to hear how Richard has managed a decade plus of growth, and plans for the future. As he says, telling the Passenger story in his own words ‘It’s been a hell of a ride so far and the best part is that we’re just starting. What the future holds who knows but one thing I do know is that it won’t be dull.’
Seaside CEO events host & organiser, Emma Jones, said:
‘I’m delighted Richard has agreed to be our guest at an upcoming event. He has been on an incredible journey with Passenger that has seen him raise £15m in funding, build sales online and off, break into global markets, and build a world class team. I will be asking him, in a fireside chat format, how he has achieved this and his advice for others.’
The event will take place on Thursday 29th October, 5 to 7pm, at the Royal Temple Yacht Club, Ramsgate. It is part of a monthly series of Seaside CEO events on the final Thursday of each month. Tickets are £5 per person
